First How to Reach Bharmour?
Bharmour is the main base of all Manimahesh routes. So this is the orign point of Manimahesh trek and yatra.Bharmour is well connected by road but not with rail and air. But visitors can assess Bharmour by near by conacting airport and railhead.
The nearest airport is at Gaggal (Kangra) near Dharamshala which is 190 km and other is Amritsar Airport 300 km from Bharmour. Taxis and Buses are available.
The nearest railway terminal is situated in Chakki Bank and Pathankot, Punjab which is at a distance of 180kms. Taxis and Buses are available.
Bharmour is well connected by roads with main cities of Himachal Pradesh like Chamba, Kangra, Dalhousie, Dharamshala, Manali, Mcleodgunj, Shimla etc. It is 60kms from the District headquarter Chamba and approximately 200kms from Dharamshala at a height of 2195mts from sea level. Taxis and Buses are available. There are regular Bus services from Pathankot and Kangra to Chamba then to Bharmour.
After reaching Bharmour you can follow any of following four routes. Although you can also visit or trek other than yatra period by taking the help of local guides
Manimahesh Yatra by Dhancho
This is the common route to Manimahesh Lake during Yatra. It is advised that if you are not good trekker please follow only this route and leave other alternative trekking route. Dhancho is the mid way point of trek route. Bharmour – Hadsar 14 km by Taxi / Bus then Hadsar to Dhancho 06 km trek. Dhancho to Gaurikund 07 km Trek by Bandar Ghati or by old path. Gaurikund to Manimahesh 01 km Trek. In this route ponies and horse ride will be available too but no palaki.
- Medical Camps will be available at Bharmour, Hadsar, Dhancho, Sunderashi, Gaurikund and Manimahesh Lake.
- Sector Officers to organising Yatra from administration, Police Security and rescue teams will be available at Bharmour, Hadsar, Dhancho, Gaurikund and Manimahesh lake.
- Lots of Langars and Bhandaras will be available after every kilometres.
- Paid tea huts and shelters for night halts will be their during Yatra.
Manimahesh Yatra by Kugti ( Manimahesh Kailash Parikrama)
Bharmour – Hadsar – Dhanaul (20 km by taxi) – followed by trek to Kugti – Kartik temple – Dalotu – Padhar Goth – Base Camp – Dham Ghodi – Jotnu Pass – kamal Kund – Gaurikund – Manimahesh lake – Dhancho – Hadsar – Bharmour almost 50 km Trek and required minimum 07 days.
This is the parikrama route to Manimahesh Kailash. During Yatra there will be only one langar at Base Camp before reaching Gaurikund. It is advised that if you are good trekker only then go for parikrama with the help of experienced guides, tents and meal items. This trekking route will be opened from 15th May – 30th October. This is quite tough trek so don’t go without trekking guide as the facilities are very rear in this trek and trail becomes very adventrous and tough when you near to reach the top of Jotnu Pass and the most of trek from Base Camp to Gaurikund is over boulder and snow.
Manimahesh Yatra by Kalah Pass
Bharmour – Holi (38 km by taxi) – followed by trek to Kalah Village – Jailkhad – Sukh Dali – Kalah Pass – Manimahesh lake – Gaurikund – Dhancho – Hadsar – Bharmour almost 22 km Trek and required minimum 04 days.
This is another trekking route to Manimahesh Kailash via Holi Valley and also known as Sukh Dalli Pass trek. During Yatra there will be only one medical camp and langar at Jailkhad before reaching Manimahesh Lake. This trekking route required little bit experience of trekking and can be completed with the help of experienced guides, tents and meal items. This trekking route will be opened from 15th May – 30th October. The trek is quite tough and adivsed that don’t trek alone or take the local guide.
Manimahesh Yatra by Helicopter
Bharmour – Gaurikund by Helicopter ride of 10 minutes then followed by one km trek to Manimahesh lake. For this pilgrimage lacs of people’s follow 14 Kms trekking route from Bharmour to Manimahesh. But all of devotees are not able to trek this gradual and steep access and miss their dream to take dip in the sacred Manimahesh Lake and glorious glimpse of Manimahesh Kailash. So don’t disappoint Anna Adventures & Tours Bharmour is providing a facility of helicopter service with the help of a private company to the devotee of lord Shiva who are not able to trek this 14 Kms gradual and steep access to Manimahesh Lake.
So book your helicopter package in advance to avoid any botheration during Yatra. Every year the facility of Helicopter services is only available from Janamastmi to Radhastami for fifteen days.
